History

PA 211 East is a service of United Way of Berks County. United Way of Berks County initiated its investment in PA 211 in the Fall of 211 when it became the first county in our footprint to allow the 211 three-digit dialing code. Our 211 Director recalls to this day, the very first call received by dialing 211 from Berks County…it was a call from a staff member from United Way of Berks County testing the line, and it worked successfully!

Berks County residents can connect to resources including (but not limited to): Uitlities, Employment, Education, Child Care, Rental Assistance and more. In addition, 211 is a contracted screening partner for the Berks Coalition to End Homelessness for those experiencing homelessness.

It was really hard for me to call 211 for help today, but getting a person who is kind, empathic and helpful made it so much easier, thank you!
